Um...

Hi.

So.  I didn't do quite so well in the bloggy department last week.

I finally figured out why.

I'm annoyed that I can't add pictures anymore.  I love adding pictures.  I know I'm not the greatest photographer, but I do love being able to show all 18 of you that I actually do the things I tell you I do.

Like Babette.  She is coming along swimmingly but, unless you are on Ravelry, you can't see that for yourselves.  I am currently about halfway through section 10.  Once that is finished all that is left is to complete the border.  I am surprised at how fast she is getting done and, although I really do hate to sew and I REALLY hate all the 2 round squares, I would totally make her again.  I found a pattern that allows you to add to more sections to give her some extra length and width and I fell in love with that.  What I think I am going to do is, after I finish this one, take a break and work on some other things, then come back to a new Babette in the fall.

I need to get started on my garden (such as it will be) soon.  I am going to put in a couple of pepper plants, a couple of cucumbers, and two or three tomatoes.  I'm glad that I didn't start any sooner, though, because the weather here has turned colder than usual.  I had been wearing sandals to school (to the detriment of my poor foot) but I am back in my tennis shoes as it has gotten much chillier.

School will be over in just a few weeks (13 and a half school days, to be exact) and I still can't believe it.  This is the first year in a long time that I actually wouldn't mind if we went another week or two.  :)

miss raven is doing well.  she is asleep beside me.  she has been very snuggly lately and I love it.  It is almost time for her yearly check-up and she won't be happy with having to go to the doctor.

And now, although I haven't said too much, I must go.  I have a ton of things to grade, an English test to create, and a sleepy puppy to adore.

I promise, promise, promise to be a better blogger!  Thanks for sticking with me!

Moving right along...

This has been an exhausting week!

My kids, while happy (yes, honestly) to be back with me at school, were still full of their, ummm...energy and that left me feeling so tired by the end of the day.  They are sweet, though, and are already dreading the end of the school year.  They actually told me that, for the first time, they didn't want the year to end because they would miss me so much over the summer.

I just about cried.  What a change from last year.

Babette is moving right along.  I am now finished with sections 1-8 and only have sections 9 and 10 to go.  I started on section 9 today but wasn't feeling up to par.  I'm not sure if it is something I ate or just the business of the week but I was very tired today and didn't feel quite right.

That leaves me with  much to do tomorrow. I did manage to get some laundry done but I still have a little more to do, plus dishes, lesson plans, and general cleaning.  The lure of Babette is strong though, so I am hoping that I manage to get a little farther on section 9.

I know have 18 followers!  Whoo-hoo!  Welcome to you most recent additions!  miss raven and I are pleased to have you!

This is all I can mange for tonight.  I hope that, wherever you are, you are having a wonderful weekend full of fun and relaxation!

How did that happen....

How did it happen that a whole week got away from me?

Spring Break was not as eventful as I was hoping (read:  no beach time for melicity) but I did have a nice time.  I ended up visiting Mount Vernon, Monticello, and Montpelier.  I also made a stop at the Botanical Gardens and the National Gallery, two of my most favorite places in all of the city.

The weather wasn't as nice as I had hoped (read:  no beach time for melicity) but it wasn't raining and it wasn't snowing so I can't really complain.

The week off was much needed, and, despite the unnecessary, un-needed, and childish drama that concluded the week.

What's that you say?  What drama?

All I have to say about that is this:
Feel free to let me know when you will be needing some cleaner for all that glass that makes up your house.  I will be more than happy to send you a couple of Costco sized bottles because it seems that your house is just THAT big.  ;)
I did a ton of work on Babette over the break.  She is looking marvelous and I can't wait to show her to you. I have finished 7 out of 10 sections and am about a fourth of the way through section 8.  Because I am now limited on how many pictures I can add to my blog (without having to pay for more storage) I am going to wait until she is done and show you the final product.

If anyone out there in reader-ville knows how to switch blog hosts to something that will allow me to upload unlimited pictures and want to share that information with me, I would much appreciate it.  I have a lot of pictures from the Break that I would like to show on my blog, but can't afford to start paying for them.

Hope your week is going well!  I promise to be a better blogger this week!  :)

Grrrrrr....

Ok.  So I had this whole post planned out, complete with pictures, but the site is telling me that I can't upload any more pictures.  Not sure what is going on.

I am working on Babette and she is going well.  I have finished sections 1-5 with all ends woven in and all squares attached.  As soon as I can figure out what is going on with Blogger I will upload pictures for you.

Letting off a little steam...

I've got something stuck in my mind tonight and I need to vent it out.  Please pardon my thought process.

If there is one thing I can't stand, other than being lied to, it is a hypocrite.  Don't be fake with me.  Don't smile in my face and stab me in the back and don't have double standards.  It drives me crazy.

And, above all...

Don't take out your frustrations with me on another member of my family.  If you have something to say, say it to me.

If a set of standards applies to me, then it applies to you, too.  Show some respect.  Don't make things personal and don't be a pot-stirrer.  Personal attacks against me or my family are unnecessary.  I have the right to state my opinion and beliefs in a respectful way just like you do and I'll thank you to remember that.

I may hate confrontation and I usually back down from a fight but keep pushing me into a corner and you might be surprised at what happens.  Attack my family again and the gloves come off.  I'm tired of it.  Grow up.

Yes.

This is intended to be read by someone specifically and, while I don't know if they will ever read it (nor do I care, quite frankly), I needed to vent a little steam.

Now.

On to happier and more pleasant news.

HAPPY SPRING BREAK TO ME!

Whoo-hoo!!!!

After a lovely (read: headache-inducing) field trip today, I officially began SPRING BREAK 2012 with a quick little trip to Dunkin Donuts for my usual:  Large Blueberry Iced Coffee, Cream, no Sugar.  I have about a fourth of it left and have already made plans for another one tomorrow.  As a matter of fact, I am thinking of breakfast out, along with my crochet, and a stop at a bookstore for a little browsing.  I will feel like a normal person!

Have I ever told you...

that I loathe Mondays?

Oh?

Sorry.

I also apologize that my blog has been rather "list-ish" of late.  I am sorry, but, well, here we go with another list.

1.  I made a bee-line to Dunkin Donuts after work today.  Today was the third in my series of six free iced coffees.  I intend to claim EVERY.SINGLE.ONE.  I think the guy there knows me by now.  I am anticipating being able to drive straight up to the drive-thru window next week without even having to bother to order.  :)

2.  I have mice...again.  Sigh.  After dinner tonight I re-baited and reset all the traps.  I am not looking forward to having to empty them but I hate those little buggers.

3.  I had a completely fabulous dinner tonight.  I have been pretty lazy about cooking of late but tonight I had half a strip-steak, cooked to perfection, half a potato, and a handful of sauteed mushrooms.  Very tasty, if I do say so myself.

4.  To celebrate the end of the third quarter of school, I treated my angels to lunch.  I made hot dogs and bought chips, pickles, and popsicles.  Everything was going wonderfully until the end of the day.  I walked down the hallway to the restroom to shoo out a few girls who were chatting away.  The closer I got to the restroom, the clearer their conversation became.  Turns out, they were talking about me, and not in a nice way. My first thought was.......well, I won't tell you what my first thought was.  I stood there and waited for every single one of them to exit.  Two of the three that I heard had the graciousness to at least look embarrassed, but the other one, who tells me all the time how much she loves me and how I am the best teacher ever, just breezed right past me like nothing was amiss.  Long story short.....One of the girls apologized right away on Thursday.  She was so upset and genuinely sorry.  This morning I laid on a thick, thick layer of guilt (my mother would be proud) and got two more apologies.  Interestingly enough, one of the apologies was from a girl I didn't even think was involved but she felt guilty enough to confess.  We will see what tomorrow brings with the other girl.

5.  I have grading to do so....

Good night!

:)

ps.  pray the mice die tonight.  all of the mice.
